Alexander the Great lifetime tetradrachm from Amphipolis, Macedonia, c. 336-326 BC As with all of Alexander's imperial tetradrachms the obverse of the above coin depicts a young (beardless) Hercules wearing a lion skin headdress, with the lion's paws tied at his neck.
Meander was the most important symbol in Ancient Greece, symbolizing infinity or the eternal flow of things. It is considered that there is a connection with the Cretan labyrinth – the meander is the figure of a labyrinth in linear form.
